Athletics

Recognizing the unique developmental needs of the middle level student, the Federal Way Public Schools promotes athletic activities that build student success through active participation, increased skill building, and positive sportsmanship.  Middle athletic offerings include football, fastpitch, cross country, basketball, wrestling, soccer, gymnastics, track, baseball and volleyball.  Scholar athletes are required to register using the online system provided by FinalForms. This includes participation in any sport, including conditioning, tryouts, and practices. The following forms are required for participation.

  • Athletic Participation Form
  • Medical Emergency Authorization Form
  • Physical Examination Form
  • Physicals are valid for two years and the original copy must be on file with the Athletic Office.

Eligibility

  • Students must have a current sports physical on file in the office before they can participate in the athletic program.
    • (Note: A physical is good for two years.)
  • Parents must compete ALL online registration forms "FinalForms.com"' before the student will be allowed to participate.
  • Students must purchase an ASB Card ($15) in the main office PRIOR TO THE FIRST COMPETITION unless the family qualifies for a Fee Waiver based on their free and reduced-priced lunch status.
  • Students must maintain a grade of "C" or better in ALL classes in order to participate in interscholastic sports.
  • Unless otherwise noted, all sports practices are Monday-Thursday from 2:45-4:30

    • Football (7th and 8th graders ONLY)
      • Varsity and JV
    • Varsity Girls Fastpitch Softball (All grades)
    • Cross Country (Non-cut - All grades)
    • Intramural Sports (September 9-October 11 2-3 days/week 2:45-3:45)
      • Flag Football (6th graders ONLY)
      • Net Sports -Badminton, Pickleball, Ping Pong (All grades)
  • Winter #1 (November 12-January 31)
    • Wrestling (Non-cut - All grades)
    • Girls Basketball (All Grades)
      • Varsity and JV
      • Non-cut Intramurals(2 to 3 days/week 2:45-3:45)
  • Winter #2 (February 3-March 25)
    • Boys Basketball (All Grades)
      • Varsity and JV
      • Non-cut Intramurals(2 to 3 days/week 2:45-3:45)
    • Girls Gymnastics (Non-cut-All grades)
